Dear Kaylee girl,
You asked me for your first pair of shoes. Oh, we've bought you a pair or two over the last year but they never seemed to fit right or stay on your feet so you've been barefoot or in socks since the day you were born. Then a little girl (she is one too) came over to play with you and she had the pinkest, sparkliest, prettiest, shoes you've ever laid eyes on. She had taken them off and you crawled right over and got them. You brought them to me and then said, "THAT!!"
"Do you want shoes like that?"
"Yea!"
So, a tiny bit because you need shoes since you're starting to walk, but largely because you asked me for them I took you to Target to get those pink, sparkly shoes. They had them, but not in your size. I showed them to you and you got all excited. When I couldn't find your size I tried to get you excited about a pair of white, sparkly shoes. No dice. You started crying. Off to Payless Shoe Store we went. Luckily, it was in the parking lot of Target so it wasn't too far. They had your size and you were thrilled.
I can hardly keep a pair of socks on your feet, but when we put your new shoes on you don't even try to take them off. You love them.
They do have some pitfalls though. I was helping the boys one day and you were getting angry. I was very preoccupied trying to take care of the boys and I kept hearing this, tap tap tap tap tap tap tap. It was driving me nuts! As I looked around the room to figure out what it was I see you laying on your belly and kicking your new shoes against the floor. Oh, the joy of a tantrum. Your tantrums were much quieter before the shoes.
I love these shoes. I love them because you love them.
Mommy
