Big Brother

Dear Connor,

You've been cracking us up lately! Your favorite word is "yes." We'll ask you:

Do you want to go swimming?
YES!
Do you want to go visit Kendall?
YES!
Do you love Mommy and Daddy?
YES!

Clayton and Kendall came over yesterday. I was holding Clayton and you did not like it at all. You kept coming over and trying to climb on my lap.

We put the jungle gym slide into the kiddie pool and you guys were having so much fun going down the slide into the pool. You did very well taking turns surprisingly. Every time you got to the top of your slide you would call me over to help you sit down. You were afraid you were going to fall. Then once you were sitting you would slowly push yourself down. Each time you got a little braver and the splashes got bigger!
I've been thinking about when you were first born lately. The memory I'm really focused on is when you were 14 days old we took you to get your pictures taken. There is one picture that I love.

I love how your eyes are open. You have this look on your face like, " what are you doing?"

Hunter who was taller and heavier from the minute he was born is snuggled into you and sleeping. The only way he could possibly have slept through pictures was because he felt safe snuggled into you. I told Daddy that this was my favorite picture out of all the ones they took because it looks like you are protecting your little brother. It was a joke at the time, but it couldn't have been closer tot he truth! There have been countless times that you've played the big brother role very well. These are a few of my favorite times:

1. You were 9 months old or so and Hunter kicked Daddy in the middle of one of his fits....Daddy gave Hunter a pat on the diaper and a time out and Hunter started sobbing. You came crawling over... stood up... and started breathing really fast with your face scrunched up and your fists squeezed shut. Daddy said it looked like you were saying, "Quit picking on my brother!"

2. Every morning when we get up we have the same fight. "No Connor, we are not going to check on Hunter again. He's still sleeping. Let's let him sleep." You'll find any excuse possible to take me back to the bedroom to show me that Hunter is still asleep and then try to wake him up to play.

3. Then there was the other day at the doctor's when Hunter was having his blood drawn and you ran back to check on him.

and the most recent... which is easily becoming my favorite...

4. Yesterday you were napping in the bedroom. You were both turned opposite directions. I had just gotten home so I was in the bedroom checking on you and Hunter started whimpering in his sleep. I started to walk across the room to comfort him but before I got there you rolled over and put your arm around him. He stopped whimpering and snuggled back into slumber.

You're such a good big brother. I love you very much!

Hugs and kisses!!!!

Mommy
